We are incredibly proud to announce that several public school’s institutions across Sicily have officially enrolled to use the PKM (Privacy Knowledge Manager) as part of the curricula.
At ErnieApp Ltd we believe that a flourishing digital economy starts with education of citizen of any age. We are honored and excited to interact with “digital natives” who—despite growing up with technology—still face the complexities of data life cycles and privacy rights.
Empowering the Next Generation: Our mission is to help students move beyond just “using” apps to actually understanding them. We are focusing on three core pillars:
- Why Privacy Matters: It’s not about having something to hide; it’s about having the power to control your digital identity.
- How to Enforce Rights: Teaching students the tools and legal frameworks available to protect their data.
- Increasing Vigilance: Learning to spot the “Red Flags.”
The First Red Flag: Hidden Settings: The biggest lesson we’re sharing? If the privacy settings are hard to find, hard to use, or intentionally confusing, that is your first red flag. Apps that do not expose privacy controls on an easy-to-use interface are often designed to prioritize data harvesting over user safety. We’re teaching students to demand better and to walk away from platforms that don’t respect their agency. By elevating digital literacy in schools, we aren’t just protecting individuals—we’re building a more trustworthy AI and data ecosystem for all of society.
